This summer, more North Texans will receive some much needed relief from the sweltering heat thanks to the CoServ Charitable Foundation’s decision to purchase air conditioning units and fans to donate among Frisco Family Services, Community Services, Inc., and Christian Community Action. These units and fans will be distributed at the agencies’ discretion (meaning the recipient does not necessarily have to be a CoServ member or customer). In addition, the CoServ Charitable Foundation has set aside more than $100,000 this year for these agencies to distribute to needy CoServ members and customers. These funds are intended to assist with day-to-day living expenses such as rent, utilities, transportation, food, and healthcare.
“We’re proud to partner with these fine organizations whose purpose is to help neighbors in need.” says Dennis Engelke, Grant Committee member of the CoServ Charitable Foundation, which receives much of its funding from CoServ’s members, customers and employees. “This is our second year to partner with these agencies, and we are proud to be able to offer assistance to those having difficulty coping with the heat of summer.”
Alma Maynard, director of family assistance services at Christian Community Action in Lewisville, says, “We greatly appreciate these donations. CoServ is such a caring part of the community, and I wish all utility companies could be this generous.”
Since its inception in 2004, the CoServ Charitable Foundation has donated more than $1,000,000.00 in grants and donations to support social, charitable and civic programs in the community. These contributions are examples of how “Operation Roundup” dollars are used. Through this initiative, participating members’ and customers’ monthly CoServ bills are rounded up to the nearest dollar, and the extra change is used by the foundation.
CoServ Electric, an electric cooperative headquartered in Corinth, serves approximately 115,000 member-owners by providing electric service through more than 130,000 meters in parts of six counties of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. CoServ Gas services more than 52,000 gas meters in four counties. CoServ’s vision is to be trusted to consistently exceed members' and customers’ expectations for safety, reliability, service, value and community support.
